Rebecca Werts is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate in the state of TX, under the supervision of Dr. Leslie Jones, LPC-S, RPT-S and Ms. Cynthia Thompson, M.Ed., LPC-S. Through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), she is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a 2022-2023 Doctoral Minority Fellow for the NBCC Foundation. With a passion for mental health, wellness, education, and ministry, Rebecca is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Counselor Education at the University of North Texas (UNT) with a focus on Black Women’s wellness.
Hailing from Colorado, she is a two-time alumna of UNT, earning her B.A. in Psychology and M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In addition to being a Ph.D. Candidate, her higher education experiences span across a decade, and includes academic advising, financial aid, and undergraduate/graduate instruction. Through her clinical training, she has experience working with adults, adolescents, and groups, and is passionate about health and wellness for the Black/African American community, particularly Black Women. Her desire is to empower Black Women as they embrace self-compassion, self-advocacy, faith, and wellness, with a focus on identity and self-esteem.
Rebecca is multi-gifted as a speaker, trainer/consultant, writer, and educator, and she has shared her experiences and expertise from local church settings to national conferences held internationally (Toronto, CA). Her key signature topics have ranged from the lived experiences of Black/African Americans and women and other historically excluded populations, to the integration of faith and mental health, and clinical development. In digital capacities, she has created tangible resources for women’s organizations, has been a contributing writer, and a podcast guest. Her training experience has also centered around trauma-informed and culturally-responsive clinical care. Her study abroad experiences in Portugal (2024) and Morocco (2025) have enhanced her culturally-responsive and trauma-informed care, while also deepening her commitment to multiculturalism within clinical, professional, and community spaces. These culturally immersive experiences expand her insight, approach, and empathy to individuals and communities here within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
Within the DFW community, Rebecca serves as the current Wellness Chair for The Lotus Club, a 501c3 non-profit organization that centers wellness for Black women who have been impacted by workplace trauma, burnout, and inequities. Her leadership position further demonstrates her dedication to Black Women’s wellness and advocacy.
Her areas of clinical focus include grief/loss, anxiety, body image, self-esteem, and various forms of trauma. Her clinical range from non-profit, to community, and private practice/group work. Rebecca believes that through therapy, individuals can gain the knowledge, awareness, clarity, and tools necessary to confidently navigate their life journey. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, spending time in nature, cooking, listening to music, and enjoying unlimited brunch with loved ones.
Her hope is that you are able to heal, be restored, and liberated to live your life authentically, intentionally, and optimally.
