therapist

I am a licensed therapist in the state of Texas (#86027) under the supervision of Leslie Jones, PhD, LPC-S, RPT. My areas of focus include trauma, grief/loss, anxiety, and self-esteem issues. My primary population are BIWOC (Black, Indigenous, Women of Color), with most of my clientele being Black women.

I am also a National Certified Counselor (#1096010) through the National Board of Certified Counselors, as well as a 2022-2023 NBCC Minority Fellow (Doctoral).

My approach to therapy focuses on how one’s belief systems about themselves and others shapes their worldview and influences their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I collaborate with my clients to cultivate a brave space for them to unapologetically explore their lived experiences, needs, and wants, as they work to heal their authentic selves.

**NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME.**

contributor

As a contributor, I have been intentional with using my speaking, writing, and educational skills to contribute to organizations, events, conferences, and institutions on the topic of mental health, varying from best practices, to leadership and advocacy. From being behind the scenes as a program developer and organizer, to being on the forefront as a speaker, panelist, or presenter, I thrive in spaces where I am able to share the value, benefit, and knowledge of mental health, particularly in the Black community. Some of my experiences and partnerships include:

educator

Education has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. I dreamed of going to college, and remember telling someone I wanted to be a doctor. However, I knew I would not be a medical doctor, and yet, those words meant something to me. I became the first one in my family to earn college degrees. As I neared the end of my undergraduate career, I once again uttered the dream of becoming a doctor. Who knew that pursuing my Ph.D. in Counselor Education would be the essence of those words I spoke throughout my life. One of the many opportunities afforded to me as a student has been serving as an educator. I have over 10 years of experience in higher education from being a peer tutor, to financial aid advising, academic advising, to undergraduate instruction. I also have over six years of Sunday school and Bible teaching. I value education and value the opportunity to advocate with and eradicate barriers for others to pursue their scholastic and professional dreams.
